I fell this evening. Big deal! Well, that’s because I can hardly recall the last time or a time when I fell right into the gutter. That’s disgusting, right? Well, if you were me this evening, I don’t think you’ll be so much concerned with a stinking, disgusting gutter; you’d rather be concerned about how to get up fast so you I don’t have to face any more pain. Ah! It was real painful. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. The way I fell- it was all so sudden. You can imagine placing one of your legs forward expecting to meet solid ground only for you to realize that that leg is plunging you right into the gutter. ARRGH! Now that I think of it, I don’t even want to think of it.
You know, after some time, it felt okay to laugh even with the pain. I reasoned that sometimes, these things happen to add flavor to your day especially when you haven’t been so engaged; just to give you something to talk about or think about. On the other hand, I thank God. I thanked God( and I’m still thanking him) because I could have died or I could have lost one of my legs. But God is ever so faithful! Gurl, are you crazy? How can God be faithful when he could have stopped that fall. Well, this is my answer and I am not crazy, God knows I needed that fall. You see, when things like this happen and you come out of it unscathed and alive and still able to laugh, then it stirs up your sense of appreciation towards God. It makes you appreciate God with your heart and not your lips. When you realize that you were inches away from being either crippled or dead then you’ll appreciate more, the gift of life that God has given you. Some people have met death through a fall like the one I had today and here I am still able to laugh it off and even, write about it. Abeg, make una thank God for me jhoooooor!
