SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING!

Sometimes, we think that some things are too big or too small for God to do. If we are one of the 'wes', we had better have a rethink!
We are all familiar with the story of how Jesus fed a whopping five thousand people with only five loaves and two fishes and how there were twelve baskets of leftover after (Mark 6:37-44). Do we also know that sometime later, he fed another four thousand with seven loaves of bread and what the Bible records as few fishes? And that there were seven baskets of leftover?(Mark 8: 4-8)
If you compare this two stories as I did,you would find that he fed even more people with less food.
When stuff happens to us and we think God is not there or God has forgotten about us or whatever, use these stories as a point of contact to that situation in your life. They are not called 'The Word of God' for nothing. There is an unparalelled power in 'The Word'. God is the Most Powerful God and when HE does some things, HE uses it to show us  how great and powerful HE is. Remember the story of Lazarus?
The Lord loved him and could have gone immediately He heard that the young man was sick but then He waited till Lazarus died so that He could make known his glory and power.
That problem or difficulty we are facing in our lives today is not too big for God! Wait until you hear this............. Isiah 43:19 says He makes a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert! He makes living beings out of dry bones (Ezekiel 37:5). He makes flesh out of stone (Ezekiel 11:19). He makes rock out of  miry clay and sets your feet on it (Psalm 40:2). He makes beauty out of ashes
Dear friends,I could go on and on!
Bottom line is - HE MAKES SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING!

HEY...........JUST CALL HIM!

We get better at something everyday, right?
So it is with our prayer lives too. Everyday should be an opportunity for us to get better at talking to the Almighty One. Prayer is basically, communicating with God. It is however, common to find that its hard for most people to pray. I used to have very bad prayer life so much so that I used to loathe being called upon to pray when the family was praying. I used to think that if I pray for one hour in a day, then there was no need to pray again for that day. Infact, I used to think prayer was a bore. How wrong I was!
By HIS grace, all that has changed now and I am still learning. I am telling us this because the power in prayer cannot be underestimated. A sincere and willing heart is all it takes to make that phone call to God in prayer. A couple of experiences have taught me this and its not like I've mastered it, I'll just have to keep learning but then if we see prayer as nothing more than a bore, we'll be getting it all wrong. Prayer is just picking up your spiritual phone and calling God. Prayer is the greatest privilege we have because God is the most important audience we can ever have. It's a conversation, a two-way thing that involves you and God.
It feels like a one way thing sometimes, as if its only you talking, but sometimes we really need to wait and hear God. He might not be talking to you audibly (at least I have not yet experienced that) but He might just be putting a bible verse in your heart. That's talking to you!
I have got a few tips to share with y'all concerning prayer, gathered from a couple of teachings I have heard.
First, Worship God using songs(Oh, I love doing this) or words(just call HIM names like Alpha and Omega, Omnipotent, Omnipresent.....................) or you can even do both. Either way, worshipping God is very important before talking at all. It is a way of putting you in your place. When you do this, you remind yourself of how great God is. Thank HIM too(that's super important) before and after praying
Always make reference to the Scriptures when praying. You can make a list of prayer points. Its not hard: just build your prayers on some scriptural verses. Always ask for HIS will to be done. Even Jesus asked for His will to be done when praying. Voice out your feelings when praying too. For instance, when I find that I am getting distracted, I voice it out and tell God to take it away. God is not some stone-hearted God who doesn't understand your human nature. Finally................................never cease! We need God everywhere and everytime so we just need to keep calling HIM. Its a way of telling HIM 'God, I'll never let you go'. Thess 5:17 commands us to 'pray without ceasing.' No vain repetitions(Matt 6:7). Prayer is not by how many words; its the heart behind it that matters. You could read Matthew 6: 5-14 for more help.
And if you ever have any cause to be discouraged..........................Hey, just call him!( He's an ever present help in time of trouble).

KILLER ON THE PROWL!

There's a killer on the prowl!
And it springs up everytime 'n' everywhere
It's more deadly than the Egyptian plagues
It can put you on  the wrong side of God
Is it a devil?
Or a demon?
A monster?
A beast?
Ha ha ha ha ha!
It is all of this and more put together!
My dear friends, it is......................................................... PRIDE!
And it is lurking everywhere waiting to feed on our souls and lead to our own 'Luciferic' fall. I do not write as one who is not plagued by this disease. It is in fact, my biggest weakness.
Especially when it comes to 'the faith'! Pride is what prevents us from attaining higher levels of glory; we begin to think we have arrived after we have felt the Spirit move or after we;ve encountered a measure of God's glory. I say a measure because only God knows how big-headed we'll become if HE releases HIS glory to us in large doses. We experience only the small doses and then we begin to trust in our own ways instead of looking at HIM. (Read proverbs 3:5-6) We begin to think we are so spirituaaaaaaaaaaaal!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know the feelings very well because i'm one of the 'we'! But hey, we can wage a war against this killer before it kills us all. Remember, God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble'. If we remember the story of Michal, Solomon's daughter and David's wife who because of pride, did not bear children all her life or Queen Vashti who was deposed or Nebuchadnezzar who was sentenced to live like an animal or King Saul who was deposed too.................................................
Then next time we get on our knees, we'd all ask him in truth for the MANTLE OF HUMILITY!

Yours Blogfully: I STAND IN AWE OF YOU

Yours Blogfully: I STAND IN AWE OF YOU:   As I read through Psalm 64:9 yester morning,  a song named 'I stand in awe of you' came to mind and I decided to name this piece after it....

I STAND IN AWE OF YOU

As I read through Psalm 64:9 yester morning,  a song named 'I stand in awe of you' came to mind and I decided to name this piece after it.
Have you ever looked at the skies; how pure and blue, big and endless they are with white clouds that look like pieces of heavenly wool?
Have you ever marvelled at how the rains come down; how they seem to come from nowhere and yet they just fall out of the skies?
Have you ever wondered at how beautiful it looks during sunset, the orange and peach hues that announce the closing of the day?
Or let's take a break from the realm of nature
Have you ever taken time to think deeply about the many instances in which God has been there for you? It could have been just a fall; but Hey! if not for God, it would have been 'just' your death.
Have you ever thought that this God has hordes of peoples; a host of nations (not counting the birds, plants and other animals) to answer to, yet HE's still there for you when you need HIM and when you call HIM.
Have you ever thought about the kind of father that would send his only son to suffer and die like an ordinary person when infact, the son is a prince?........................................................
There's so many more I could say; so many experiences that define and redefine God in more ways than one but........................................................................................
Bottomline is - we can never truly understand God! He was, is still and will still be a mystery to people all over the world including you.
When you think of all these things I've mentioned, you'd have no choice but to stand in awe of HIM!
So, next time you get on your knees to praise God, don't forget to say
'My Father and My God, I stand in awe of you'
